Question that inspired this post:
I am in receipt of AAH. It will be reassessed every 5 years, I believe, but don't anticipate it not being renewed. Does that scupper my chance of ever getting nationality? I hold a 10-year Article 50 card that expires in 2031.

"It seems that it would be illegal for you to be rejected even if your sole income is from your AAH.
Relevant sections translated into English:
The Supreme Administrative Judge considers that "in order to reject an application for naturalisation or reinstatement of French nationality, the administrative authority cannot rely exclusively on the existence of an illness or disability, nor on the fact that the person concerned does not have any resources other than those from allowances granted to compensate for a disability, since such a reason would deprive persons in such a situation of any possibility of accessing French nationality".
Therefore, the refusal of naturalization based solely on the circumstance that the applicant has no other resources than allowances granted in compensation for a disability is illegal."

What is AAH(Allocation aux Adultes Handicapés)?
"AAH" typically stands for "Allocation aux Adultes Handicapés," which is a French disability benefit provided to adults with disabilities who have limited financial resources.
If you are "in receipt of AAH," it means you are receiving this financial support from the French government. This allowance aims to ensure a minimum level of income for disabled individuals who are unable to work or have reduced working capacity due to their disabilities.
Based on the information provided, receiving AAH (Allocation aux Adultes Handicapés) does not automatically disqualify you from obtaining French nationality. However, there are some important points to consider:
Duration of AAH: The AAH is typically granted for periods of 1-10 years, depending on your disability rate. For those with a disability rate of at least 80%, it can be granted for 1-10 years or even for life if the disability is not expected to improve.
Renewal: The fact that your AAH is reassessed every 5 years does not necessarily impact your eligibility for nationality. As long as you continue to meet the criteria for AAH, it can be renewed.
Financial resources: When applying for French nationality, one of the factors considered is your ability to support yourself financially. While receiving AAH doesn't automatically disqualify you, it may be taken into account when assessing your overall situation.
Integration: The nationality application process also considers factors such as your integration into French society, knowledge of the French language and culture, and your overall situation.
Article 50 card: Your 10-year Article 50 card, which expires in 2031, demonstrates your legal right to reside in France, which is a positive factor for a nationality application.
It's important to note that each nationality application is assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account various factors beyond just financial resources.
The fact that you have a long-term residence permit (Article 50 card) and have been living in France for a significant period are positive factor. To get a definitive answer and specific advice for your situation, it would be best to consult with a legal professional specializing in French immigration and nationality law.
They can provide guidance based on your circumstances and the most current regulations.
