"Hello everyone
I have a situation and I really need help.
I have to apply for a visa for my wife and baby under passport talent accompagné family member.
The problem is that in our marriage certificate, the name of my father is Kuwar Pal and it should be Kuwar Pal Singh.
Here are my question
Should I change it before applying visa (I have already provided this certificate for tax and caf purposes)
Should I continue with the same for the visa?
Correction is not possible in the document and I will get a new marriage certificate if we want to change.
Can anyone recommend me something pls on this!"
Answer
"If the father's name in your passport and marriage certificate same, then better not change. The best option is to change.
Maybe you can check if the French embassy will accept the "one and same" or concordance certificate"

Introduction
Navigating the bureaucratic waters of international visa applications can be challenging, especially when discrepancies arise in your documentation. If you've encountered an issue with a discrepancy in your father's name on your marriage certificate, don't worry. Here are some comprehensive steps to address this issue effectively, ensuring a smoother visa application process.
1. Consult the French Embassy or Consulate
The first step is to reach out to the French embassy or consulate where you plan to apply for your visa. Explain the situation regarding the name discrepancy on your marriage certificate. Embassy officials can provide specific guidance on whether the name discrepancy will be an issue and what documentation or explanation they may require to resolve it.
2. Obtain an Affidavit or Sworn Statement
If obtaining a new marriage certificate with the correct name is not possible, consider obtaining an affidavit or sworn statement. This statement can be from your father or another appropriate authority, such as a local court, attesting that "Kuwar Pal" and "Kuwar Pal Singh" refer to the same individual. This legal document can help clarify the discrepancy and provide a formal explanation for the variation in the name.
3. Provide Supporting Documents
In addition to the affidavit, gather other supporting documents that consistently show your father's name as "Kuwar Pal Singh." These documents can include:
Passport
Birth Certificate
Official Identification Documents
Providing a series of documents with the correct name can help establish the legitimacy of the name discrepancy as a minor clerical error, rather than a significant issue.
4. Explain the Situation in a Cover Letter
When submitting your visa application, include a detailed cover letter. This letter should explain:
The nature of the name discrepancy on the marriage certificate
Reasons for the discrepancy (e.g., clerical error)
Steps you have taken to address the issue (e.g., obtaining an affidavit, providing supporting documents)
Being upfront and transparent about the situation in your cover letter can demonstrate your proactive approach and willingness to clarify any potential confusion.
5. Consider Obtaining a New Marriage Certificate (If Feasible)
If feasible and not overly burdensome, obtaining a new marriage certificate with the correct name can be the most straightforward solution. This step would eliminate any potential issues during the visa application process by providing a document that accurately reflects the correct name.
6. Highlight Previous Acceptance of the Document
If you've already used the marriage certificate for tax and CAF (Caisse d'Allocations Familiales) purposes in France without any issues, mention this in your cover letter. Demonstrating that the name discrepancy has not caused problems in other official capacities can support your case and show that the discrepancy is a known and minor issue.
Conclusion
It's crucial to be proactive and thorough when addressing a name discrepancy on your marriage certificate for a visa application. By consulting with the French embassy or consulate, obtaining affidavits, providing supporting documents, and explaining the situation clearly, you can navigate this challenge effectively. Remember, transparency and thorough documentation are key to a successful visa application process.
