Visa can expire before the end of your studies, trust me it happens to me. It can happen because of the following reasons :
You are still following your course.
You are still doing your work placement.
You are waiting to graduate.
Task 1
What are the conditions for this category of residence permit?
The conditions are as follows:
You are enrolled at a French public or private university.
Your income is at least 650 euros per month.
Task 2
Do you have all the necessary documents?
It may seem not easy to complete the visa extension procedure, but it's not. Here is a list of the documents you need to have before submitting your application:
The university documents required are :
Attestation from the university - To inform of your student status.
University transcript.
Certificate of registration explaining why you need an extension. For example, if you are doing a work placement, you will need to provide a work placement agreement (a document proving that you are doing a work placement) when you apply.
Personal documents are :
Passport with a residence permit.
3 passport photos.
Identity card from your country of origin.
Document proving your source of income, e.g. if you are applying for an internship, you can provide pay slips.
Birth certificate
Proof of address, for example, an electricity bill or a lease.
Proof of health insurance.

💡 Advice
The application must be submitted three months before the expiry date. If the application is submitted late, you will have to pay a penalty of a further €180.

Task 3: Submitting the application
Place of submission (Concretely, it looks like this (electronic version)): https://administration-etrangers-en-france.interieur.gouv.fr/particuliers/#/
Then go to the "I want to apply for or renew my resident card" section and follow the instructions.
💡 Pro Tips :
Before applying, check the documents again to make sure they are correctly placed and uploaded.
Task 4: Visit your VLS-TS account from time to time to check the progress of the decision.
In the top right-hand corner of the website, you'll see a notification🔔 icon (Concretely, it looks like this (electronic version).
They will use this to notify whenever action has been taken on the application decision. Once you have received the notification, click on the notification icon and you will see the decision.
The approximate decision timeframe is 1 to 3 months depending on the submission timeframe. The notification will also be sent to the email used during registration.
