Question that inspired this post:

Hello, I have my appointment with the prefecture in November. I just have a new job in June. It’s CDI but temps partiel. 80 hours a month part-time job accepted or not? My employer manager told me they sent my contract to the prefecture but didn’t receive back attestation travail documents. Should I change my job to full-time? I am pretty afraid my titre séjour annuler. Thank you for your time and advice.

"No it's enough hours, I got my CDS when working part-time."

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Based on the information provided, here are some key points regarding your situation:

  1. Part-time work is generally allowed for temporary residence permit holders, as long as it does not exceed 60% of the annual working time (964 hours per year). Your current 80-hour-per-month part-time job (approximately 960 hours per year) falls within this limit, so it should be acceptable.

  2. However, since you have changed jobs, your employer needs to apply for a new work authorization. This is a crucial step in the renewal process.

  3. The renewal application for your temporary residence permit should be submitted to the prefecture within two months before its expiration. It's good that you already have an appointment scheduled for November.

  4. For the renewal, you'll need to provide evidence that you continue to meet the conditions for the permit, including your new employment contract and work authorization.

  5. Regarding the attestation de travail (work certificate), your employer should provide this document. If they haven't received it back from the prefecture, they should follow up on its status.

Given these points, here are some recommendations:

  1. You don't necessarily need to change to a full-time job, as your current part-time position should be acceptable.

  2. Ensure your employer has applied for the new work authorization. This is crucial for your permit renewal.

  3. Follow up with your employer about the status of the work authorization and attestation de travail.

  4. Prepare all necessary documents for your November appointment, including your new employment contract, proof of residence, and any other required paperwork.

  5. If you're still concerned, consider seeking advice from a legal professional specializing in immigration law or contacting the prefecture directly for clarification.

Remember, while changes in employment can complicate the renewal process, having a valid employment contract and following the correct procedures should help prevent your titre de séjour from being cancelled.

Stay proactive in gathering all necessary documents and communicating with both your employer and the prefecture to ensure a smooth renewal process.
