The question that inspired this post:
Bonjour, Hello!
I had a query regarding UK travel.
I need to urgently travel to the UK (in less than 2 weeks), for a business conference organised by a vendor. I currently hold a TDS salarié. Would it be possible to receive a visa with these short delays and if so, what category of Visa should I apply for?
Thanks in anticipation of your responses.
Best regards
Answer
"Time's too short I think. It took 4 weeks to get a UK visa a year ago. They do have a priority option too for a UK visa, it's significantly expensive but can work for you."
Thanks for your feedback! What category of Visa did you apply for?
"UK standard visitor visa"

Introduction
As a French resident with a Talent Passport or Salarié visa, you may find yourself needing to travel to the UK for business, family, or other reasons. Obtaining the appropriate UK visa can seem daunting, but with proper planning and documentation, it's manageable. Here's a step-by-step guide to the process:
Determine Your Visa Type
The first step is identifying the right UK visa category for your travel purposes. For short business trips like conferences or meetings, the Standard Visitor visa is likely what you'll need. Check the eligibility criteria on the UK government's website.
Gather Your Documents
Next, assemble all the required documents per the visa checklist. This typically includes a valid passport, proof of your Talent Passport residency in France, evidence of employment/income, travel and accommodation details, and any other documents specific to your visa type. Having these ready will streamline the application. Refer to the guide to supporting documents
Apply Online
Complete the online visa application form on the UK government's visa services website. This official platform will guide you through the process based on your circumstances.
Pay the Fee
Each visa type has an associated fee that must be paid as part of the application process. Check the costs on the UK visa fees page.
Book Biometrics Appointment
You'll need to schedule an appointment at the nearest UK visa application centre in France, likely a TLScontact facility, to provide your biometric information (fingerprints and photo). Find your closest visa application centre on their website. More details can be found on the TLScontact website
Submit Your Documents
TLScontact offers an Assisted Scanning Service to submit your supporting documents digitally, either at your visa appointment or by mail to their UK Settlement Scanning Hub. Alternatively, you can self-upload documents using the eSolo platform before your appointment at no extra cost.
Attend Interview (If Required)
Depending on your case, you may need to attend an interview at the visa application centre. This allows officials to assess your circumstances and intentions.
Wait for the Decision
Once all steps are complete, you'll receive a decision from UK Visas and Immigration on your application. Processing times vary, but the Standard Visitor visa currently takes around 3 weeks. For more information, visit the UK Visas and Immigration website
Expedited Options
If you're facing a tight timeline, the UK offers Priority and Super Priority Visa services to expedite the process, though at an additional cost. Use these options judiciously based on your urgency.
Throughout the process, demonstrate your intention to return to France after your UK visit. Providing proof of employment, finances, accommodation, and ties to your home country is crucial.
Your valid French residence permit like the Talent Passport will also strengthen your case. For any queries, you can contact UK Visas and Immigration or refer to their guidance on visa application centres in France.
With diligent preparation and following the proper channels, that UK visa is well within reach!
