The question that inspired this post:
Hello, I need a little help. I am applying for a family visit visa. I have been living in Europe for studies for the last 5 years, and 3 months ago I moved back. Currently, I am not working as I am starting an IT startup in India, currently, the paperwork is in the process and then our portal will be developed which will take around 3 to 4 months, I am the founder with my partner. I wanted to ask what I can write in my cover letter that I was living in Europe and that's the reason I don't have ITR (as we have to submit it), secondly how I can assure them I will be back to the country as my company paperwork is in progress. Can I also include the last time I was in Europe before my visa finished, I returned home without any overstay. My family in France is sponsoring me, even though I have more than 3000 euros in my bank. A help will be great, sorry for the long post. Thank You.

Writing a Cover Letter for a Family Visit Visa
When applying for a family visit visa, it is crucial to address any potential concerns the visa officer might have, such as the lack of an Income Tax Return (ITR) and your intent to return to your home country. Here’s a structured approach to writing your cover letter:
1. Introduction
Your Details: Start with your full name, nationality, and current address.
Purpose of the Letter: Clearly state that you are applying for a family visit visa.
2. Explanation of Your Situation
Living in Europe: Mention that you have been living in Europe for studies for the last five years and recently moved back to India.
Current Status: Explain that you are currently in the process of starting an IT startup, and the paperwork is ongoing. Mention that the development of your portal will take around 3 to 4 months.
3. Addressing the Lack of ITR
Reason for No ITR: Clearly explain that due to your recent return to India and the ongoing process of setting up your startup, you do not have an ITR to submit. You can mention that you have been a student and have not had taxable income in India during this period.
Financial Stability: Highlight that you have more than 3000 euros in your bank account and that your family in France is sponsoring your visit.
4. Assuring Return to Home Country
Business Commitments: Emphasize that you have strong ties to India due to your startup. Mention that the paperwork for your company is in progress, and you need to return to oversee the development and launch of your business.
Previous Compliance: State that you have a history of complying with visa regulations, as evidenced by your return to India before your previous visa expired without any overstay.
5. Supporting Documents
List of Documents: Mention the documents you are including to support your application, such as bank statements, proof of sponsorship from your family in France, and any documents related to your startup.
6. Conclusion
Gratitude: Thank the visa officer for considering your application.
Contact Information: Provide your contact details for any further inquiries.
